Frequently Asked Questions
Do you accept insurance?
Brooke Simmons Lactation Services is not currently an in-network provider with any insurance company. She is happy to provide you with a Lactation Visit Receipt. (It is also referred to as a SuperBill.) The SuperBill has all of the information that is needed to submit a claim to your insurance company for reimbursement. This is not a guarantee that services are covered. It is up to the client to work with their insurance company. Payment is due at the time of service. If you are reimbursed, the insurance company will reimburse you, not Brooke Simmons Lactation Services.
What forms of payment do you accept?
We can take any major credit card (Visa, MasterCard, Discover or American Express), Cash or Check. You may also use any FSA/HSA funds provided you have a debit card for the account. Please note that there will be a $35 fee for any returned check. Payment is due at time of service.

Do you offer prenatal classes?
Yes! Brooke offers both private one on one prenatal classes as well as group prenatal classes. The group classes are offered in 2 different locations: Family First Wellness Center in Winter Park and Heart 2 Heart Brith Center in Sanford.
I had problems breastfeeding my first child. Does this mean I will have the same problems with my second child?
Every baby is different! In cases like this, prenatal consultations can be especially important. Brooke will work with you to talk about your fears, troubleshoot what may have stood in the way of your breastfeeding success, and create a plan for the future. Once your baby has arrived, be sure to call Brooke and set up your first consultation with your new baby(ies).
How quickly can I get an appointment?
Brooke understands the time-sensitive nature of lactation services and empathizes with worried parents. In the event of a serious concern, or a baby in crisis, same day appointments may be available. Otherwise, there is typically a 24 hour window between a client calling and being scheduled for an appointment.
Is breastfeeding supposed to hurt?
While there may be some discomfort, breastfeeding should not cause pain. If you are experiencing pain, please call and schedule an appointment for a consultation. It may be something as simple as a positioning or latch issue. Breastfeeding should be an enjoyable experience for both mother and baby. If you are experiencing pain, Brooke is there to help make things better for you!
What is your cancellation/rescheduling policy for appointments?
We kindly ask that you cancel your appointment twenty-four hours prior to your appointment. This will ensure that another mom and baby in need of an appointment can be scheduled. We understand that things happen and may prevent you from keeping your scheduled appointment. If you cancel with less than 24hr notice, you will be charged a cancellation fee.
I am scheduled for an in home lactation visit with Brooke Simmons Lactation Services. Should I worry if my home is not clean and the dishes are not done beforehand?
Not at all! Brooke is there to help you with breastfeeding! There is no need to worry about cleaning your home before she arrives! Spend the time enjoying your new baby!
If I just have a quick breastfeeding question, do I still need to make an appointment?
If you have never been seen by Brooke, then yes! An appointment is necessary! Brooke is unable to give any advice without getting the full medical history for you or your baby. She will also need to get consent forms signed prior to working with you.
How do I prepare for my visit with Brooke?
Brooke will email you all of your health history and consent forms prior to your visit. Have this completed prior so that she can get started with your visit right away instead of working on paperwork!
Will all of my breastfeeding issues be resolved in one visit or will I need mulitple visits?
Brooke will come up with a care plan that will best fit you and your baby. But not all breastfeeding issues get fixed overnight and sometimes follow up visits are necessary.
